Important information about Caller ID (Calling Number Display)
Incoming calls
Incoming Caller ID, also known as Calling Number Display (CND), allows you to see the telephone number of the person calling you on your 3 mobile. This allows you to screen your calls. If the person calling you has not enabled Caller ID on their phone, you won’t be able to see their telephone number; instead you’ll see "No Caller ID", "Unknown number", Private number", "Anonymous voice call" or a similar message displayed. This may also apply to calls from overseas, depending on the overseas carrier used by the calling party.
Outgoing calls
Outgoing Caller ID allows you to choose whether or not your number will be displayed on the called party’s phone when you make a call from your 3 mobile. You can turn off Outgoing Caller ID on a per-call basis, or permanently. Your telephone number may, or may not, display on the called party’s phone when you make an international call as this depends on the country being called and the carrier delivering the call.
Some businesses and organisations use Caller ID to identify their callers, and may even capture your 3 mobile number in their databases for marketing or other purposes. If you have privacy concerns about the use of Caller ID you can turn it off on a per-call basis, or permanently.
SMS/MMS
Incoming and outgoing SMS will always display the telephone number from which the message originated.
Note: Caller ID cannot be turned off when sending a message.
Caller ID default settings
By default, your 3 mobile is set up with both Incoming and Outgoing Caller ID turned on. You can opt out of Caller ID by ticking the appropriate boxes on your 3 Service Agreement form at time of purchase, or by selecting your desired Caller ID settings on your 3 mobile.
