The Personal Hotspot feature on your iPhone allows you to connect multiple compatible devices to the internet using the Vodafone network. It's like having your own personal Wi-Fi network in your pocket, allowing you to remain connected when you're out and about.
Using your phone as a Personal Hotspot will increase your data usage. To cater for this, we recommend a 2GB Mobile Internet Super Membership pack (as a minimum) to cover your browsing needs. What do you need to set-up a Personal Hotspot on your iPhone?
Follow the steps below to set-up your Personal Hotspot on your iPhone:
Step 1 From the home screen, tap Settings > General > Network
Step 2 Tap Personal Hotspot to switch it on. Your iPhone will display a Wi-Fi password, which you will need to enter into the iPad that you're connecting.
You can optionally change the Wi-Fi password by clicking on the Wi-Fi password box. Your new password must contain at least eight characters.
Step 3 If Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are not already on, you may be prompted to choose whether you want to enable Bluetooth or USB. If you have an iPhone 4 and your Wi-Fi is currently off, you will be prompted to enable it.
Depending on how you're pairing your devices, select 'Wi-Fi and Bluetooth' or 'USB only'. We recommend you select 'Wi-Fi and Bluetooth' to connect your devices wirelessly.
Step 4 After configuring your Personal Hotspot for the first time, you can directly access the settings from Settings > Personal Hotspot. This makes pairing your device even easier.
Follow the steps below to connect your iPad to your iPhone Personal Hotspot:
Step 1 Tap Settings > General > Network
Step 2 Tap Wi-Fi
Step 3 Activate Wi-Fi and select your device. In this example, the device is 'AJI.' The network you select will be the name of your iPhone that you are connecting to.
Step 4 You will then be prompted to enter your password. Enter the password as displayed on your iPhone.
Step 5 Your iPad will now be connected to your iPhone, and your iPhone is the conduit for your iPad's connection to the internet. You can connect up to 5 devices in total to your Personal Hotspot.
While devices are connected to Personal Hotspot, the status bar on your iPhone will be blue and will indicate the number of connected users.
Step 6 Disconnecting your Personal Hotspot
You can disconnect users by turning off Personal Hotspot, unplugging your device, turning off Bluetooth, or by tapping Settings > Wi-Fi and either turning off Wi-Fi, selecting a different Wi-Fi network, or disconnecting current users.
