» What is 3 Prepaid?

Prepaid is offered by 3 for our customers who wish to have a 3 mobile service and control their spending but do not wish to have monthly bills.

There are no contracts, credit checks or ongoing bills to worry about. You can simply purchase a 3 mobile outright and recharge your prepaid service as desired.

» Where can I buy a prepaid mobile?

» Can I buy a 3 Prepaid SIM alone?

» How do I activate my Prepaid service?

It's easy - just go online to www.three.com.au/activate.

» Will I get an activation credit?

Activate your Prepaid Mobile online and get $10 credit when you make your 1st recharge!

» How can I check the balance of my credit from my mobile?

Go to Planet 3, then click on the MINE tab. My3 is a convenient way to check and manage your spend from your 3 mobile. Using My3 you can:
> Recharge using a credit card or voucher and set up an Auto Recharge
> Check your remaining credit, and your remaining free units
> View a breakdown of your last 7 days usage
> Check your credit expiry dates
> Sign up to Planet 3 Value Packs and passes
> Review your current Value Packs and passes and alerts
> Get helpful hints on how you can get the most out of your 3 mobile
You can also go online to My 3 online or call 2223 (FREE call from your mobile) to check your balance.

» Can I unlock my Prepaid mobile?

$199 unlocking fee applies. To get the unlocking code call 3 Care on 131921

» Can I check my credit balance online?

Yes! Simply go to My 3 online.

You can also recharge using a credit card - and to make things even simpler for you next time, you can store your credit card details or even set-up auto recharge so you’ll never have to worry about running out of credit when you most need it!

» Can I use International Roaming?

Unfortunately, 3 Prepaid doesn't currently support international roaming.

» Can I call overseas?

Yes, international calling is available on prepaid services. And what’s more you can use up to $100 of your Cap services credit to make international calls!
When making an international call on prepaid make sure you have enough international call credit available to make a minimum 3-minute call.

» How do I know when I am in 3’s Broadband Zone?

When you are in 3's Broadband Zone you'll see the '3' symbol on your mobile. This means you are in 3's Broadband Zone and will be charged accordingly for voice, video and data.
When you’re outside of 3's Broadband Zone, i.e. roaming, your mobile screen will display "Roaming" or "R". Check our Prepaid pricing information.

» How do I know when I am in 3's 2G Zone?

When you are in 3's 2G Zone you'll see the '2G' symbol on your mobile. This means you are in 3's 2G Zone and will be charged accordingly for voice and data (video is not supported). When you’re outside of 3's 2G Zone, i.e. roaming, your mobile screen will display "Roaming" or "R". Check our Prepaid pricing information.

» What is the repair process?

If you're experiencing technical difficulties with your mobile, please call 3 Prepaid Care on 13 19 21. We'll help you to determine the problem. If you contact us within 14 days of buying your new 3 Prepaid mobile and your handset is found to be faulty, it can be replaced at the store you purchased it from. After 14 days from purchase, your mobile can be sent for repair at an authorised repair centre.

» What important numbers do I need to know for my 3 Prepaid mobile?

For your convenience, many of these important numbers are pre-programmed onto your 3 USIM.

» Do I need a PIN to set up My3 online?

Yes. If your PIN is forgotten or lost, call 3 Care on 131921 to have it reset.

» Can I still purchase a prepaid Bonus Plan?
» Can I set up Auto-recharge on Bonus plans just like I can for Caps?

Yes. Auto recharge is available to all prepaid customers, Bonus and Cap.

» Am I eligible for Free talk when I am roaming?

No, you must be within the 3's Broadband or 2G Zone when making a call to another 3 mobile. When calling outside of the 3's Broadband & 2G Zone, calls will incur a higher call rate which will be deducted from your Cap services credit.

» What recharge options are available?

» How do I recharge?

  • Recharge on your mobile
    - You can recharge any time when on the run via My3 on your mobile using your credit card or voucher. Simply head to My 3 on your mobile and select recharge with a voucher or recharge with a credit card. Make it easier to recharge next time by saving your credit card details.
    - You can also call 2224 from your 3 mobile to recharge over the phone with your credit card or to activate a recharge voucher.
  • Recharge online
    Simply head to My 3 to recharge online with your credit card or voucher. Make it easier to recharge next time by saving your credit card details. (It takes 24 hours for your My3Online to activate once you register)
    - You can also set up an Auto-Recharge.
    Take the hassle out of recharging by setting up an auto recharge for when your balance reaches a certain level or a date you choose. It’s up to you. To set up Auto Recharge go to My 3 on your mobile or online.
  • Voucher recharge
    1. Grab a recharge voucher at any 3 Store, 3 Dealer, or over 14,000 participating outlets across Australia
    2. Find one near you at three.com.au/recharge.
    3. To apply the credit to your account
    4. Go to My 3 on your mobile, my.three.com.au; or call 2224

Don't forget – ensure your keep your mobile recharged regularly as your service will expire if you don't recharge at least once every 6 months.

» How will I know when I run out of credit?

You will receive an SMS alert when your balance hits $10 on your cap or bonus plan. If you have set up an auto recharge, you'll receive an SMS alert confirming when payment has been taken.

» What happens when I have a low balance warning?

Low credit value warnings are automatically sent to you via SMS when your credit falls to $10. You can visit my.three.com.au to set up an "auto recharge" using your credit card.

You can choose to set a low balance level to $5, $10 or $15 and automatically recharge your credit on the Cap or Bonus plan you select. Or you can set an automatic recharge to take place on a certain day each month that suits you.
When you set up your auto recharge you'll get an SMS alert to let you know if your auto recharge payment was successful or not.

» Can I change between the Prepaid Cap and Prepaid Bonus plans?

You can swap between the two different plan types simply by purchasing the desired recharge amount, which is linked to the plan type. The recharge amounts dictate what type of plan you will be using.

The $30, $50 and $100 recharges are for Bonus plans and the $29, $49, $69 and $99 are for the Cap plans. As an example, if you’re currently on a Prepaid Bonus plan, you can switch to a Prepaid Cap simply by purchasing a $29 voucher.

The $10 and $20 recharge amounts used for Planet 3 recharges are “plan neutral” and will not trigger a rate plan change. It is important to note a change in rate plan may result in a loss of credit or free units. If you are currently using a prepaid Bonus plan and switch to a Cap plan, you will lose the free units (such as free SMS and free 3 to 3 calls) associated with the Bonus plan.

If you are on a Cap plan and move to a Bonus plan, you will forfeit your unused Cap credit (as this Cap credit is incompatible with the Bonus plan).

» What happens to my free unit allocation and credit value when I switch from a Cap Plan to a Bonus plan (or vice versa)?

When switching from a Bonus to a Prepaid Cap any remaining Bonus free unit allocation will not be rolled over. If you switch from a Cap to a Bonus plan any remaining Cap service credit will be not be rolled over.

» What rates will I pay if I have existing credit and recharge with a different value voucher?

The last recharge determines the plan and therefore the call rates of the prepaid service. The rates are effective immediately after recharge.

» What are Planet 3 Add on vouchers?

All Prepaid Caps have a Cap service inclusion, enabling you to use up to $10 of your Cap credit to download ringtones, watch Mobile TV, buy a value pack or download your favourite game or use premium services. If you need more credit for accessing Planet 3 or premium services, get $10 or $20 Planet 3 Add-on Vouchers any time!

» Can the $10 and $20 vouchers be used for voice calls or messaging?

No. These vouchers are purely for Planet 3 usage only and cannot be used for voice or messaging. A $10 or $20 Planet 3 Add-on Voucher allows you to access all the fun stuff like mobile games, music, ringtones and Mobile TV on Planet 3.

» Do recharge vouchers expire?

Vouchers don't expire and you can redeem them at any time online, via your 3 mobile, or over the phone by calling 2224. However, once you recharge, a credit expiry period will apply based on the recharge voucher purchased.
Caps – 30 day expiry
Bonus – 60 day expiry
Planet 3 Add On – 180 day expiry

» Can I roll over my credit when I recharge the next time?

Yes, provided you recharge within the credit expiry period of your prepaid Cap, or Planet 3 Add-on voucher, or your Bonus plan expiry period. Your service credit will roll over with your next recharge.

» Are there any limits on the amount of credit that I can roll over?

The maximum credit value that can be rolled over is $3,000.

» When does the credit expiry time on a recharge begin?

The credit expiry time is set from the moment that the recharge is activated on the account. You can always check out your credit expiry dates via My 3 on your handset or online via www.my.three.com.au.

» If I recharge before the expiry time and still have credit left, will this amount rollover?

Yes. For example, if you recharge within 30 days of your existing Cap, with a $29 Cap, any unused Cap service credit will roll over, and the 30 day expiry begins again.

» Will I continue to receive calls and text messages after the credit expiry date - even if I haven’t recharged?

Yes, you can still receive incoming video and voice calls and text messages for six months. You will still be able to make emergency calls. If you don’t use your service for 6 months from the last recharge, your service will be disconnected.

» If I don't recharge will I lose my number?

If you do not recharge for 6 months, your service will be cancelled and cannot be reactivated

» » When will my service be cancelled?

If you do not recharge for 6 months, the service will be cancelled and cannot be reactivated. You will be advised 10 days before the service is due to be cancelled and will need to recharge to avoid disconnection. Recharging with a Planet 3 Add-on voucher will not be sufficient to keep your service active. You must recharge using a Cap or Bonus plan.

» How do I know when I have used up my Planet 3 or International Calling Allowance?

My 3 on your mobile and online will give you a breakdown of your usage so you'll know when you’re getting close to your limit.

» Will I get an alert when I've used up my Planet 3 or International Calling Allowance?

No.

» How up to date is the My3 balance information?

It's real time!

» When setting up auto recharge with a credit card, does it need to be in the same name as the person recharging?

No.

» If I purchase a $10 Planet 3 Add-on voucher and have $8 credit remaining on my Planet 3 allowance from my Cap, then recharge with a $29 Prepaid Cap, what credit amount gets used first when accessing Planet 3 Services?

Your available add-on voucher credit will always be used first. Once this has been depleted, any further usage will then be deducted from your cap allowance.

» What packs and passes are available on Prepaid?

You can download the full range of products and services, including downloading your favourite music tracks, ring tones, games, pictures. Or alternatively sign up to one of our great value packs like the $10 Mobile TV pack which includes 13 channels including South Park, Fox Sport News and more.

» What if I do not wish to have access to the Mobile Internet?

As your recharge gives you automatic access to the Mobile Internet for you to use, to activate Mobile Weblock, contact customer care on 131921 and they will arrange for this to be removed.

» Do I have to subscribe to the content pack every time I recharge?

The pack will automatically renew itself when the month is up. If you don’t have credit that can be used for content purchases at the time, the pack will cancel and you will need to re-subscribe when you have recharged your account.

» Will all features of the X-Series handsets work on all 3 mobiles?

No. You will need to have a compatible handset to use each feature of the X-Series pack. For list of compatible mobiles go to three.com.au/compatible

» I can already access the Internet. Why do I need X-Series Essentials?

Aside from the data allowance, XSeries Essentials 5 and 8 include unlimited access to your Planet 3 essentials and 4000 Skype minutes each month – so it’s great value. Plus, you get unlimited Facebook and MySpace with X-Series Essentials 8 within our regular Broadband Zones as well as unlimited Email on 3 and IM (if you have a compatible mobile).

» Why do I only have X-Series 5 and 8 Internet Packs available to sign up to?

At the moment, X-Series Essentials 5 and 8 are the only X-Series Internet Pack available to Prepaid customers. But stay tuned!

» What if I use more than my included X-Series data allowance in one month?

You’ll be charged at the rate defined by your last recharge. Rates within the Broadband Zone are:
$29 Cap – $1/MB
$49 Cap – 70c/MB
$69 Cap – 60c/MB
$99 Cap – 48c/MB

All Bonus plans – $5/MB

Rates when roaming are:
$5/MB for Cap customers
$8/MB for Bonus customers

» Is data use while roaming included in the X-Series Pack?

No. Data use while roaming on a 2/2.5/3G network (including when in the Broadband Zone) is charged at the roaming rate defined by your last recharge (see above). To find out if you’re roaming, check the indicator at the top of the screen.

» I already have a Bumper or Info Pack, what happens when I sign up to X-Series Essentials 5 or 8?

It's up to you to decide whether you'd like to keep or cancel your Bumper or Info Pack. If you opt to cancel, you won't lose any benefits other than unlimited use of Finance.

» I’m already signed up to things that are included in my X-Series Pack. Will I be charged twice for these?

You’ll only be charged for any Passes and Packs you have that are wholly included in X-Series Essentials 5 or 8 for the remainder of the month (dating from the day you signed up).

» I've signed up to an X-Series Pack and I’m having trouble playing videos and music. Why is this happening?

To make the most of the expanded 3G coverage, look out for our new MEGA mobiles. With one of these you’ll be able to get high-speed access, even when you’re out of town.

» How do I access my 3 Email and ISP accounts (like Bigpond) on my mobile?

Just go to three.com.au/email on your PC and follow the prompts. To access all other email accounts, just go to Mobile Web and enter the URL.

» Does checking my email use up my X-Series data allowance?

If you’re on X-Series 8, using Email On 3 won’t use any data from your allowance. You can check your email when you’re roaming in Australia.

» What if I use more than my X-Series included Skype minutes in one month?

We may suspend your Skype service for the remainder of the month.

» What Skype services can I use?

You can make Skype-to-Skype voice calls. If you have a 3 Skypephone, you can also use Skype Chat.

» Do unused Skype minutes and data from the Pack roll over to the next month?

No.

» How do I cancel a Pack?

Just go to My 3 and select Value Packs then the Cancel a Value Pack link and follow the prompts.
